Team M&M Cares Volunteers at Houston Food Bank

Team M&M Cares represents Melton & Melton as we continually stay involved and give back to our community.  We recently became involved with Houston Food Bank in October 2015 by volunteering at their main warehouse location on Portwall. The event was open to employees and family members ages six and up, and Team M&M Cares had around 10 people in attendance.  The event was a hit amongst the employees who participated.

In January 2016, Team M&M Cares had our second event with Houston Food Bank; at which time, our participation grew to 28 volunteers.  Employees and their families sorted over 14,000 items donated from local grocery stores or helped fill backpacks with food to give to school-aged children in need. Team M&M Cares had a great time serving our community, while also building closer relationships with each other.

Houston Food Bank is a nonprofit organization that collects and distributes food to hunger relief charities. Food usually comes from various sources in the food industry, like grocery stores and wholesalers that have thousands of pounds of food to give away – food that could otherwise be thrown away.  They warehouse the food and, with help from volunteers, sort, pack and redistribute it to the community.
